Irfan Pathan’s IPL Tragedy

Just read the scorecard of the latest IPL match between Deccan and Punjab. I don’t have a dog in these IPL fights, but I have long nursed a sports-crush on Irfan Pathan, whom I think was needlessly put out to the pastures/completely mishandled in the Greg Chappell era. So it hurts when the guy gets a fighting 60 and then loses his wicket near a loss.

Yes, I know Pathan was given plenty of chances to redeem himself in the international arena, and yes, I witnessed his slow turn toward mediocrity. But doesn’t everyone have these sorts of ridiculous attachments to cricketers? I still revere Mohammad Kaif, even though his one major innings — that famous Lord’s match — remains his biggest claim to fame. (I had similar feelings for Ajay Jadeja, and that too only because of the 45 off 25 balls against Pakistan at the 1996 World Cup.)

Anyway, if nothing else, the IPL will prove the perfect ground for both the Pathan brothers to prove themselves and get back. If that happens, I’ll even subscribe to Lalit Modi’s tweet channel.

  1. […] leave a comment » The Chennai Super Kings have turned to Suresh Raina to lead them, now that M.S. Dhoni has injured himself. This is another one of those “this will make IPL more interesting than it is” moments (akin to my rooting for the Pathan brothers). […]

I agree with you on Pathan (and Kaif, but not Jadeja, who is a lying bastard). That yorker to Gilchrist was the stuff of dreams. In a team so desperate for a fast bowler, this guy was truly exciting, but I think this might be another case of a Vinod Kambli – a distinct lack of ambition coupled with terrible team management.

    Such a waste!

Yousuf pathan is an opener but he is not getting opening place , he is dangerous player like sehwag but he do not get the opportunity to bat as an opener as DHONI and his friend RAINA do not want that he got the permanent seat in INDIAN TEAM , he got the opportunity of just 5 balls in the first match against zimbabwe as every one know that he is capable to destroy the zimbabwe so he get only 5 balls in the first match , and in the second match against srilanka he did not get the opportunity and in the third match he again get the position of number 8 player as this is just like that Indian team do not want him , they are promoting ravinder jadeja to show him superior than pathan .

Just ask one question is there only one muslim is able to come in INDIAN TEAM out of 100 CRORE people .

IRFAN pathan can bowl and can bat more batter than dinesh karthik, ravinder jadeja, and many other players but he do not get the oppotunity because he is also a MUSLIM

Indian Cricket is doing the partiality in selection, they are just removing good players as they are MUSLIM , and it is their just a you can say MAJBOORI that is why they just include only one player as yusuf pathan and do not give the oppotunity to play many time .

They today give him the opportunity on 4th place when they are in trouble against srilanka as srilanka bowlers are very good they wanted to get yusuf out cheaply but he made valuable 44 runs ,

whenever the strong team comes or any danger comes they give the pathan in the front and when any weak team comes they just do not give the opportunity to him as he is muslim

every body know the ability of yusuf but here in INDIAN team he is not getting support as he get in the IPL from shane warne , shane warne give him the confidence to play as he wants to play but here in INDIAN TEAM first he did not get the opportunity , once he get the opportunity , he always get the strong bowlers only.

90% of the times you will see that he got runout by the mistake of his own partner . this is not a mistake , this is to grade down the yusuf

If i get a chance to meet K.Shreekanth i want ask him a question that so many players like yuvaraj, harbajan,r.jadeja and so.Thease players got so many chances to play for the national team reputation but one player named irfan pathan has not a chance why?He has a reputation of being one of the best all rounders of current indian team but not picked for the team at all from 2 years it’s a shame as a selector. and the other thing is nehra was selected on the basis of his ipl performance why wasn’t irfan. you need to understand a thing that is he the second top wicket taker after zaheer when we add both the forms.I will say this is nothing but politics in seletion.

Irfan pathan is brillant allrounder his bowling, batting, fielding are awsome but unfortunately he is out from national team

Irfan pathan not in form, yusuf pathan should get permanent place as he can be very destructive. i can understand your point about selection, there is something wrong with it.
