Over at Knotted Paths, Russell tries to offer a rigorous response to my earlier question about India’s Test quality (after the innings drubbing the South Africans handed). It’s a great post because: 1) It concludes that India has faced some stern opposition on its way to No. 1, contra to what some people were saying; 2) It offers a window into how the ICC rating system works; 3) It offers a full range of caveats and subtle mathematical points to consider.
Now, I’m a failure at math and if you are too, plunge into the post with some caution. But Russell’s kind enough to speak his mind in clear, concise English.
